City of tiny lites
Maybe you should know
That it's over there
In the tiny dirt somewhere
You can see it any time
When you get the squints
From your
downers and your wine
From: Vladimir Sovetov <sova@kpbank.ru>
The very same idea of chemical pain relieving entertainment was Chrissy's choice
She said "I got me three beers and a fistful of downs
and I'm gonna get ripped, so fuck, you clowns!"

You're so big
It's so tiny
Every cloud is silver line-y
The great escape for all of you
Tiny is as tiny do
Tiny is as tiny do
Tiny is as tiny do
Tiny is as tiny do

I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't resist a grin everytime i hear someone quote from that idiotic movie "Forrest Gump"... "Stupid is as stupid does".... is it just me?
From: ulrich@sfu.ca (Charles Ulrich)
Feel free to grin, but the saying certainly predates Forrest Gump. FZ's "tiny" line was presumably an allusion to the traditional "stupid" line.
From: Bill Lantz <lantz@primenet.com>
I always assumed that the 'tiny' reference was to pills.
From: "Michael Cook"
Los Angeles is the city of tiny lights because that is the way it looks when you are in the hills or mountains. I know this because my wife lived in LA for [approx.]13 years and she said that was a common way of referring to the metropolitan area. the other use of the adjective tiny is from the drugspeak of the late seventies. "wanna get high?" = "wanna get small?" i think it first appeared in that context from some episode of saturday night live tv show but maybe not. i believe the ultimate origin of small=drugged is from the jefferson airplane song "white rabbit" where a lyric is somthing like "one pill makes you large and one pill makes you small"
This is almost correct because the concept of "one makes you large and one makes you small" originates from a very famous story called Alice in Wonderland by a mathematician known as Lewis Carol (spelling?) Any english literate zappoids will know about this. However, it was omitted because it probably is not a drug reference although I don't know for sure.

The original adage is "Handsome is as handsome does." This is an important theme in Herman Melville's novel Billy Budd.
