  The word "chump" also means to fail or to make a mistake. Zappa was known to use this word in the context of a musician "chumping" his part. That's why a "suicide chump" is one whose suicide attempt fails--he didn't "do it right the first time." Such a suicide bid is a cry for help, upon which Zappa casts a chillingly unsympathetic eye.
