  The Mothers performed "Pachuko Hop" in 1969, along with "Corrido Rock", "Behind the Sun", and other oldies. (It can be heard on tapes of 2/69 Miami, 2/23/69 Toronto.)

  Oh, I thought Higgins did spell it with the K. You can tell this is one where I don't actually own the record.

  I'll back you up on this one, Biffy. Of course Pachuco *ought to be* spelled with a C, since it's a Spanish word. But I've seen it spelled with a K in two places: a) Art Laboe's Memories Of El Monte (on the back cover, the booklet, and the CD itself), and b) the CD booklet of Johnny Guitar Watson's 3 Hours Past Midnight (where it mentions that Watson played piano on the Higgins recording). Memories Of El Monte gives complete info on composers (C. Higgins/V. Haven), publishers (Ludlow Music), and original record label (Original Sound Record Co., Inc.), so it ought to be accurate--especially since (if I'm not mistaken) Original Sound is Laboe's own label.
  But I don't have the actual Chuck Higgins 45, so I'll defer to anyone that does.
  Note also that it's spelled with a C in the lyrics of "Jelly Roll Gum Drop".
