Who says this is a Dylan parody? It's a western music parody. Dylan was a folk singer. He doesn't really sound like that. It's more of a Johnny Cash parody. The twang of the southwestern (texas?) accent is VERY exaggerated in this song.
I think the biggest joke, and worth mentioning is that some very famous (female!) country/western music singer has actually covered this song. "He'll be harder than your husband". Either she didn't get the joke, or she enjoyed spreading it, feeling that it might go over the heads of the majority of her audience.

Jimmy Carl Black [sung it]. He made some radio appearances with Frank around that time. It seems that they put aside their animosities for a brief period in 1980. It didn't last long. Roy was around at this time too.

Well, I think it's one of Frank funniest eyebrow that almost all his cowboy-like songs performed the real Cherokee JCB.

But the time has come, my darlin'
To set things right, 'cause
I'll be
harder than yer husband
To get along with
Harder than yer husband every night
Harder than yer husband
Harder than yer husband

Just in case there are 2 foreigners out there who don't get this joke - FZ is making another in a veritable cornucopia of deft double entendres. On the surface the implication is that the "I will be a more difficult person to share a relationship with than your husband." The sub-surface implication is: "My penis will be harder than your husband's - harder EVERY NIGHT."

I know that "Harder Than Your Husband" is sung by Zappa family friend Beverly D'Angelo in a film called Daddy's Dyin', Who's Got The Will.
From: Vladimir Sovetov <sova@kpbank.ru>
Very short piece about Frank written by this friend Beverly D'Angelo could be found on p.102 of Zappa! Guitar Player Magazine special issue.
